C.H. Robinson Expands Presence in Southeast Asia
Minneapolis, MN, February 18, 2009 — C.H. Robinson Worldwide, one of the world's largest third party logistics (3PL) providers of transportation and supply chain services, has expanded its operations into Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam's largest city.
"We are very excited about growing our presence in Southeast Asia and will use this as our launching point for further movement into the region. According to the Viet Nam News, commercial counselor in Washington, Ngo Van Thoan, stated that Vietnam's exports to the United States are likely to increase 14.5 percent this year. Jeff Scovill, C.H. Robinson vice president of global forwarding said, "Despite the challenging economic environment, the Vietnam economy is growing rapidly. Over the past three years, our business has grown substantially in this market. There continues to be tremendous opportunities as companies explore markets outside of China for manufacturing."
The C.H. Robinson Vietnam office will specialize in air and ocean transportation, distribution, consolidation, and value-added transportation and logistics services for the Southeast Asia region. Nguyen Thi San will manage the branch and will report to the General Manager of Southeast Asia, Gary Tan who is based in Singapore. San has extensive experience within the Vietnam market spending over seven years with SDV International Logistics and time with OV Container Line prior to joining C.H. Robinson.
